Jaxon's Journey Bulletin No. 6

23 November 2021

Hi All,

We have had a busy month since our last update.

Jaxon’s seizures have settled after we had them spiral out of control. Jaxon took a few weeks to settle and for his body to get used to the high dose of pharmaceutical medication which was used to stop the cluster of seizures.

We are still using CBD oil, we have sourced this privately ourselves as Jaxon patiently waits to be seen in the clinic at RCH. We have noticed a big change in his concentration, cognitive skills and speech with the CBD oil.

Jaxon turned 4 on 29th October and we were lucky enough to have a small gathering with family to celebrate.

He had the best day!

I took Jaxon to Anglesea for the week and my parents came with me as they help care for Jaxon. It was so nice to get away and clear the mind after the heartache of watching those seizures consume Jaxon. That week really got me down and stuck in a bad place, so to be able to go away and regroup and watch Jaxon try new things was exactly what we needed. He loved swimming, going on the boat and riding the horse. He also made friends with local cockatoo.

When Jaxon is happy we are happy!

We caught up with some special friends while we were away, Goldie & Malu. They have both gone through major brain surgery (Hemispherectomy) in the hope to reduce seizures. These kids are true warriors!!

I am grateful for the friendships I’ve made through sharing Jaxon’s story on Instagram. This is an isolating journey to be on, so to have people who truly understand the daily heartbreak that comes with Epilepsy is very special to have.

We are truly blessed to have a disability trust account in Jaxon’s name. These funds will be used for ongoing medical costs, therapy, specialised support and respite for Matt and I.

A special thank you to Belinda who has gone over and beyond in getting Jaxon’s website up and running along with the online auction.

We are honestly blown away with the amount of support and generosity shown by all at APM Group along with everyone else who has donated to the auction and fund raisers.

Thank you

DISABILITY TRUST FUND

In regards to Jaxon's Journey Disability Trust with Centrelink, it is now fully approved. Going through the approval process with Centrelink was very arduous. However all trust protocols have been approved by Centrelink including the signatures on the Trust Deed (in place in the Charter section of the new website) and the bank account if fully operational.

CURRENT FUNDRAISING

The following is a list of products are currently available on Jaxon’s website.

PRODUCTS

“Cashies for Jaxon’s Journey” has started. Matt Dole came up with the idea, if a few of APM Group staff could get together and help with odd jobs/projects for people in the community, and instead of getting paid the person/s would donate to Jaxon’s Journey. Our first attempt at this type of fundraising for Jaxon’s Journey was held on the last RDO. A friend of both MD/MG asked them if they knew anyone who could fix up their attic to become a storage area. Foss/Last Second joinery collected the materials and met in Hawthorn at Catherine and Paul’s (Chalky) house. Away we went with the three Matts, Foss and Last Second and finished the project in 3 hours. Catherine was pleased and very appreciative with the results and has now donated. Thanks to the men and Tubby for their time and effort, and hopefully more work to come.

If anyone knows of someone who needs some work done contact MG.

Zocki/Dave (more Zocki) from SDS Plumbing have recently sold over 80 Pom Pom beanies and contributed over $2,000 to Jaxon’s Journey. Great work and many thanks.

Thanks to all those workers, friends and public who participated in the Melbourne Cup Sweep on three of APM Group projects namely-

Chirnside Park Aged Care Facility- extra money also raised from a barbeque donation to Jaxon’s Journey conducted by Domain Concrete.

Elizabeth/Latrobe Streets Redevelopment

Kew Gardens Aged Care Facility

Over $2,400 was raised for Jaxon’s Journey from all three sweeps.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
